Name, age and where do you live?
Ben Joyce, 30, Rushden, Northants
How long have you been riding?
Half my life now….I was 15 when I realised BMX was more than the kerb outside my house.
What type of riding do you like and which do you get to do most often?
I`m in to riding Trails and Dirt Jumps. I list them both because they are 2 very different things. Trails are fun but I am def a fan of big`ol trick jumps-DIRT JUMPS!! Stepped up big jumps you can send it on!!
Favourite thing about BMX?
The buzz and the banter! I love riding and having a good session but the best bit is the time with friends. The laughs at the trails or at the skatepark, that’s where its at. Riding good is just a bonus.
Who do you ride with on a regular basis?
On a regular basis would be Sam “vegas” Rollason, Ryan Hills and David Taylor. Cooper and Justice are always about too. Also all the Cambridge boys, Matt Priest, Bob Manchester and Bentley.
Favourite trick(s)?
Errrr, prob flip whips. I remember first time I saw one and being amazed. When I do them I still get that same feeling. 3 tabogans as well, they’re cool.
Worst tricks?
Turndowns, WTF!!
Any other interests outside of BMX?
I`m into anything with an engine. I`ve got a Nissan Navara that I`ve converted to coil overs and slammed, An MX5 track car for Racing, a TVR Tuscan for cruising and speeding and I also just bought a motocross bike. Ryan Elcock made me buy a stomp pit bike and it was rad. Where I ride at Santa Pod everyone had 125`s. I was the biggest guy there on the smallest bike. I looked a right mug. So I bought a KTM125 but that died first time I used it. So I got a CR250 now and it’s an animal! Learned to jump it and it’s so different to a BMX. 20ft on a crosser is taking it easy in second gear. It’s unreal. New boundaries every time I ride it.
Anything else?
Yeah, thanks to all my friends who help me with all the projects I take on. Rushden Jam that I do every year wouldn`t be possible without all of you.
And thanks to all the guys at Blank and Split Second! you guys rock!!!
But still thanks to Mandy there for everything….& a Big thanks to the Split Second crew….cheers guys!!
